Golf Magazine recognizes Darrin Gee’s Spirit of Golf Academy
Kohala Coast, Big Island of Hawaii (November 5, 2008) – Darrin Gee’s Spirit of Golf Academy based on the Big Island of Hawaii has been named one of the top golf schools in America by Golf Magazine.
“We are honored to receive this award and recognition. To me, being named one of America’s top golf schools reflects the outstanding performance and skills of my coaching staff during the last eight years. It really belongs to them,” said Darrin Gee from his Kamuela office.
Renowned for his cutting-edge mental approach to golf known as The Seven Principles of GolfTM, Gee is credited with sharing his methodology with over 10,000 people since he started his Spirit of Golf Academy in 2000.
“The most unique aspect about the Academy is that it helps people achieve peak performance both on and off the golf course. My goal is to help every person reach his or her own potential. That means playing the best golf possible. Equally important, these same techniques apply to life as well. When I receive a note from a former student telling me how the Principles have improved his or her career or personal life, I feel even more gratification,” Gee explains.
Last year, Gee’s first book aptly named The Seven Principles of Golf: Mastering the Mental Game On and Off the Golf Course (published by Stewart, Tabori & Chang) was a national best-seller. His highly anticipated follow-up The Seven Personalities of Golf: Discover Your Inner Golfer to Play Your Best Game (also published by Stewart, Tabori & Chang) was just released in September 2008.
“I want to reach as many golfers as possible who have yet to visit us on the Big Island. These books share the same Principles that we teach at the Academy with resounding success. It has been amazing how many readers worldwide have contacted me by email, phone and mail to say how it has had a positive impact,” Gee adds.
The Academy offers a hands-on, interactive, step-by-step approach in which participants experience the power of the Seven Principles and the mental game with supportive feedback and coaching. All programs take place outside a classroom on the putting green, driving range and golf course. Gee proudly adds, “We’ve had golfers cut as many as 22 strokes in one day. I love it when they all leave with smiles on their faces.”

Darrin Gee’s Spirit of Golf Academy offers half-day, full-day, custom multi-day programs as well as private and playing lessons taught by Gee and his trained coaching staff. The Academy is based at the Big Island Country Club and the Hapuna Golf Course at Mauna Kea Resort in Hawaii.
